Dr. Fell, who lias resigned his position as honorary medical officer at the Ohiro Home, was accorded a hearty and unanimous vote of appreciation of his long and valued services to the institution by the Hospital Board at its monthly meeting yesterdaj-. ....
Some exception was taken by certain members of the Hospital Board yesterday to a proposal to increase; the salary of one of the officers by ,£25, . the main ground of objection being that all increases of salary should bo dealt with at the end of the financial year, when reports upon tho work of : the various officers should be tabled for the guidance of tbe board. .Mr. B. R. GaTdcJier asserted that the AA 7 ellington Board, paid .£2500 more in salaries than tho Auckland Hos. pifal, which'had actually more beds, a statement which was challenged by Mr. G. T. London, who said the comparison was hardly a fair one; as the returns of tho Auckland Hospital were not completo enough. The vote went through, however, the majority-being agreed that the officer ill question had fully earned tho increase by tho efficiency of his work as house steward 'at the hospital.
