HOSPITAL BOARD.
The monthly meeting of the. ton Hospital and Charitable Aid Board ■ was held yesterday, there being present: 3lr. 13. C. Kirk (acting-chairinauj, Miss •Ivichmond, and Messrs. D ./Robertson, W. ; Galloway, G. London, J. Trevor, J.' : Smith, J. E. Fitzgerald, J. Godber, G. ' A. H. Eindmarsh, B. R. Gardiner, .* •W. Tompsitt, and the Revs. W. A. Evans, '< and H. Van Staveren. Statistical rdturns showed that there are at present 217 in-patients under treat- • ment at the Wellington Hospital, an. increase of two since the beginning of the'" month, i'or the corresponding the previous year the number was 232. •! In. the Otaki Hospital there : were at the ' } .beginning of the month, 11 patients. Twenty-three patients were. under treatment in the Sanatorium at the begin- * ning of the month. ■ , . .Maintenance of patients accounts, totalling efilin }6s. 44., were, authorised to . be written oii". • 1 . Tbe. resignations of Nurses 0. Long and P. C. Cope jvere accepted. ; It was resolved, that in future, when recommending sisters for appointment, ; the medical. superintendent', be not conlined to the .choice..of. nurses trained t at the Wellington,. Hospital, so that' a ' wider selection of senior nurses*;be ; avail-, able, tliis being now tho-practice at tho . larger hospitals. - ' A third sister is to' be' appointed" at the Otaki Hospital at.a salary of - : - per annum, in place of a, probationer. Upoii recommendations by the Finance Committee:' . , Mr. R. Brown, was : appointed on, ;the permanent staif as collector,'at the ' salary as duriiig his temporary eniployment.-. The salary of .the House 'Steward, Mr. Li H. Fox, was increased .from to['e£2so per annum, with'free house, -lights arid' fuel.*/A-' temporary collector was appointed for the collection "of -outstanding patients' iees in the Otaki/district. In - accordance with": • past-^practice,' 7 * grant of <£50 was made for the purpose of. providing Christmas cheer ..for. ..the ./ patients- in the Hospital. The-: tender; of. Messrs'. - J.- -Duthle and Co., Ltd., was accepted for tho supply.; of. hardware and cutlery for the Infectious : .diseases Hospital; and of Messrs.. Craig '= arid Co. for the supply of crockery for ! the same institution. .The following provided for in the estimates of expenditure—were an* thorised.:—• V ' • The painting of all buildings at Otaki, . • tho Administrative Buildings by tender. / and the shelters by the staff; renewal ! and extension of engine, and electoral £lant ? "at Otaki (estimated cost' .€275); specifieations prepared and - tenders' called for tho erection of two-new.lavatories.at. thfi Wellington Hospital. :
