The Minister' for Public Works is being asked by Mr. Field, M.P., whether the Government is, as by some Wellington newspapers, giving serious consideration to a duplication of tlio Manawatu line, by a deviation of tliei Hutt lino near Petonc, joining the Manawatu lino near Tawa Flat, by way of the Takapu Valley; and whether, before coming to'.a final decision, ho will consider another suggested route by way of Palmutanui; joining the Maniiwatu line at Wainui just north of Paekakariki.
