Speaking at the meeting of tho City Council Inst (.'veiling on the Slaughtering Inspection Bill now before the House, Councillor Shirtcliffo said it had been confidently anticipated that this measure would ninke provision for tho inspection of pigs. This, however, had not been done. On tho motion of Councillor Shirtcliffe it was agreed that tho Abattoirs Committee should wait upon the Ministor in charge of the Bill to urge that a clause providing for tho inspection of pigs should bo inserted. Other matters affecting the municipal control of abattoirs are to bo .brought under tho notico of the Government by the Abattoirs Committee. The Mayor, who seconded tho proposal, suggested that members of tho committeo should arrange to wait upon the Stock Committee of tho House.
