A meeting of-stewards of the Waikanae Baring Ctub was held at Mahara House on Friday night. Mr: W-, J. Howell, president, was in the chair. For the annual Tace meeting the programme of six races .was passed by the Wellington Racing CJub. It was decided to license book-makers-at ,£5 ss. each, anuto -Hold tho meeting on Monday, January 2, 1911.

NOTES AND'COMMENTS. ffii GlencoeJ : The •: Stead Memorial Cup, which was run.'at the CJ.C. meeting on Saturday for the- third time, has novor failed to provide a fast race. BobrikoS won iu 1908 in 2min. 7sec, and last year in (2miiL-7 2-ssec. This year Los. Angeles .covered the milo and a quarter in 2min. 7sec.' The Australian. Tecord for the distance—2min. feec.—was established by Hova at Flemington, and has stood since November, 1893. .

At the Canterbury Jockey Club's Tccont meeting .tho most successful jockeys were: Hi- Gray, R. Hatch, C. Jenkins, and It. Wi-King, three wins each; W. Yoiing, F. D. Jones, F. E. Jonea, and L. Wilson, two wine-each; and L. Traill, R. Gcanoy, C Cress, Eedmond, C. E. Emerson, A. .Stratford, T. Pritchard, J. Tait, A. Olber, R. slDonald,.and T. OBrien, ono win each.

Messrs. Pyno and Co. hold a sale of blood stock.at Christchurch yesterday, ■when the following lots were sold:— Acrostic, 75 guineas, to Mr. D. OBrien; Zealand, Si guineas, to Mr. E. Buick; Gunboat, 100 guineas, to Mr. M. Prenr dergast; Outlander, 175 guineas, to Mr. M. M'Grath; Warsong, 150 guineas, to. Mr. E. I/mergan. Los Angeles, who was started at 1000 guineas, and rose- to 1200 guineas, was passed in, as were Crown Derby, 105 guineas; .Formless, 300 guineas; and Guianforte, 90 guineas. Kohmoor was sold privately on Saturday during the races at Eiccarton for

200 guineas, and yesterday, at Christchuroli, nn. offer o[ 280 guineas was refused for him. Ho goes into a Dunodin stablo. . By the Mnraroa, which arrives from the south this morning, tho following horses are being brought north:—Mediterranean, Nauniai, l'onatjs, Gold Bird, lvopu, Dirge, Dearest, Diabolo; St. Felix, Inspection, Swimming Belt, Gipsy Belle, Wauchope, Domino, and the Karemu horses, which number nine. F. Wootton has again been engaged to rido as first jockey for Lord Derby in 19il, anVl Lord liofehory will have first call on tho American horseman, D. Maher's services. Jl'LachJan's percentage, for winning tho Melbourne Cup was JE3O2. Burns's percentage for winning tho Maribyrnong Plate was £12, and Bolton's percentage for his three wins while W. 11. Smith's, percentage for winning mounts was £il. Sol. Green, it is stated, has made up the value of M'Lachlan's winning mount.' in the Melbourne Cup to .£IOOO. The four best old horses running at tlio V.K.C.. meoting (says tho "Referee") wero Alawa, Trafalgar, Comedy King, and Son of the Marsh. Comedy King, if he stands, will probably turn out the best horso in Australia. We saw Alawa in something like his true form. Fit and well, he 19 always Trafalgar's master. Trafalgar was certainly tho unluckiest horse at tho meeting. He was a good third in tho Melbourne Stakes, beateii half :a nook in tho Melbourne Cup, and a short head in the C. B. Fisher Plate. E. Cameron rides him well, but he is not a strong finisher. M. Conuell rode a more vigorous finish on Alawa. Beverage and Styria were a long way the best of the three-year-olds, while Philio, Popinjay, and Woolerina were the- best • of. the two-year-olds. Though Woolerina was only third, to Philio and Popinjay in the Maribyrnong Plate,.he is, I think, the best two-year-old of the season; and I have a . fancy that Piastre, in ■ Scobie's stable, v will turn out well.. ,■'.■".'■ y .
