£> POLICE ABLE TO MAINTAIN ORDER. By Telcpra-ph—Press Association—Copyright. London, November 10. The Home Office reports tie situation at Rhondda Valley as satisfactory. The police are able .to maintain order. Further employment of the military is unlikely, but the soldiers will be kept at hand for use if necessary. The mineowners complain about Mr. Winston Churchill (Homo Secretary) withholding the military at tho early stage. They state that only when tho military wore stopped at Swindon did rioting commence, and that tho situation was relieved when tho military appeared.
In his speech at the Lord Mayor's banquet, the Prime Minister, Mr. Asquith, said:—"The outbreak of violence ill South Wales cannot bo too deeply deplored." ORDER EVERYWHERE MAINTAINED. (Rec. November 11, 9.35 p.m.) London, November 11. Mr. Asquith intends to confer with the coal owners regarding the miners' delegates' written statement 'of grievances with a view to a settlement. Tho police aro patrolling Rhondda, Aberdaro, and other districts, and the' military are stationed in tho background as a precaution. - Torrents of rain aro falling and all i§ quiet. Mr. Churchill, quoting the police and military reports, has announced that order is everywhere being strictly maintained.
