Gilbey, in their survey of the season's vintage, estimates that there will be but a tonth of the average crop in tho Rhino and Moselle districts; no rintago. at nil in Champagne, Saumur, Burgundy, and Chablis. Thero will bo no brandy and cognac, and a third of tho usual vintage of medoo. In Italy there is half a crop, and half to three-quarters ill Spain. : The Australian supplies havo been decreased by .the" duty on spirits, . inducing growers to distil an increasing proportion of their brandy . for local consumption. Franco's 1 loss by the failure of tho (•intiige is put at £20,000,000.
