Satisfactory progress of arrangements for the lfeildipg. Scouts' field day on December 7 was reported at a meeting of the committee- of business men and Scoutmasters this week. The Fcilding Mounted Rilles arc to be asked to provides tho escort for Lord Islington who is to attend the meeting. The offer of tho 'Wnnganui Scouts to give exhibitions of bridge-building, knot tying, and ambulance work was accepted. Members of the W.C.T.TJ; are to provide the afternoon tea on the field duy. Reports! from tho Boaconsfield district state that, during the past fortnight, the weather conditions have been almost ideal. Tho crops are'looking well. Mr. Pismarpfc, a Waituna West settler, has just returned from a visit to Gerr many after an absence from the Fatherland of over 30 years, Ho travelled' a good - deal into tho interior with, a view to ascertaining nnder what, conditions farming was carried on in Germany, and to dp so more effectively he took up the plough and scythe with some of tho best men in the farming districts. He conr siders that the New Zealanders, their implements, and their methods, are a. long way ahead of those in the Fatherland. "
