Rather unexpectedly the second of tho Vacuum Oil Company's chartered steamers, tho Vermont, arrived at Auckland Jrom New York yesterday morning at 7 o'clock. It is interesting to. note that I tho Vermont left the American port 23 days after the Earl of CarrioU, but the latter vessel only managed to reach tho northern port three days ahead of her rival. Both vessels are due .at Wellington shortly, the "Earl" about Sunday next and the Vermont about three days later. The latter vessel has 60,000 cases of oil to discharge here. BOOKED FOB LONDON.
