Edward Travis commenced playing the piano at midday 011 Wednesday, and concluded at 11 on Saturday night, having played continuously for eightythree hours, thereby establishing; a new world's record for enduranco piano playing. , Travis, who finished comparatively. fresh, wa,s accorded a great reception from the huge crowd. NARROW ESCAPE AND LOST ALL. Napier, October 29. ; A fire early this morning destroyed a dwelling owned by Mr; J. C. Bryant and occupied by Mr. P. Edwards. The inmates nad a narrow escape, and lost everything. The house was insured in .the Norwich Union for £400," and the ;furniture for £200 in the New Zealand. . GUTTED BY FIRE. Danneuirke, October "29. ■ A house' owned by Mr. Richardson, Paliiatua, . and occupied by Mr. M'Grath, was completely gutted by fire at 0 o'clock this morning. Tho house was insured for £325, and there is £125 on the furniture in the Stato Office. INTEREST IN ANCLIGAN MISSION. Christchlirch, October 30. The general mission of the Anglican Churches have concluded in several parishes, but in others they only started last night. ' Great interest continues to be shown in the services, and in response to many representations it has been decided to continue 0110 of the men's servicos at the Cathedral from Tuesday till Friday next. Women's services are to bo continued to-morrow and on Tuesday. CONTROL OF ATHLETICS. Blenheim, . October 30. The Marlborough and Nelson Centre of'tho Now Zealand Athletic Union has passed a resolution as follows:—That this centre (ices 110 cause to secede from the Now Zealand Athletic Union, as it is porfectly satisfied with the present administration.
