Tho "Daily Telegraph" confirms a statement made by tho Naval correspondent of the "Daily Nows" that in consoquonco of Britain commencing to arm her vessels with 131 in. guns whilo Germany had just commenced to arm hers with 12in. guns, Germany has not begun the four Dreadnoughts which tho programme proposed should bo laid down this year. Tho probable delay in the construction of those vessels will bo twelve months. " Mr. Asquith's statement regarding the strength of the two nations in capital snips must accordingly, says the "Telegraph," be recast. The .position will therefore be as follows: Britain. Germany. 1911, end of 16 11 1912, April 20 13 1913, April 25 13 The paper adds: "Germany will probably be able' by April, 1914, to complete twenty-one Dreadnoughts.. Britain will then have' twenty-five, and in addition those of next year's programme." ANOTHER ESTIMATE. SOME INTERESTING COMBINATIONS. . . London, October 27. . Mr. Alan H. Burgoyne, founder and editor of the "Navy League Annual," writing in tho publication named, says he reckons the number of Dreadnoughts ownod by Britain' and Germany, and, in combination, by-the United States, Italy, Germany, and Austria, in March, 1913,' will be:
Britain 27 Germany 17 'Germany and America 25 .' Germany, Italy, and Austria ... 21 , NAVAL LOAN PROPOSAL. MR. M'KENNA KNOWS NOTHING.' London, October 27.
