ADJOURNED BOARD MEETINC,

The Wellington Land Board resumed yesterday at 10 a.m. There were present Messrs. James Mackenzio (Commissioner), H. T. Ellingham, J. Gcorgcttij. W. M'Lonnan, .and J. Dawson. TRANSFER APPLICATIONS. With regard to Miss M. A. Keaue's request for a building site for Section 8, Block X, Makotuku (to be provided from tho scenic reserve opposite, or from Section 4 adjoining) it was resolved to grant six mouths' time to build, iv ith regard to the scenic reserve a report i,s to be obtained from tlio C.L. ranger, and in regard to Sect-ion 7 there ■wnl be no objection to a small area of two or three acres'being cut out and transferred to Miss Keanc if alio can make arrangements- with tho holder of the section. . Mr. 11. W. Campbell applied to transfer Section 130, Block XI, Raet-ihi township, to Mr. J. F. Day. It was resolved to leave the matter in tli6 commissioner's hands to forward for the Minister's consent if ho finds all in order. Mr. L. D. Carey applied to transfer Section 52, Block XVI, Makuri, to Mr. Oliver Holland. It was resolved to approve the transfer. Messrs. Arroivsmitli and Black wrote asking that the application to transfer Suction 27, Block XIII, Ohinewairua, Namanui 1.F., from Mr.. P. Leahy to Mr. T. O'Dea be reconsidered. It was resolved to pass the transfer ou condition that all surplus'' "consideration" be used to liquidate the mortgage on Mrs. Lealiy's section. Mr. G. Dunn applied to transfer Sections 7 and 4, Block VI, Aohanga, to Mrs. M. Sorenseri. It was resolved to decline on account of aggregation. 'Messrs. Ellingliani and Georgetti dissented.

Messrs. Norrell, Tosswill, and Murray applied to transfer Section 11, Block IV, ■Retaruke, to Messrs. John Kidd, Tosswill, and Murray. It was resolved to approve.

Mr. J. M. Mackenzie applied to transfer Section 37, Block IV, iUount' Cerberus, to Sir. Wiu. Holdem.- It was resolved to approve, the commissioner and Mr. Dawson dissenting. Mr. John White applied to take Mr. Frederick Kettlewell as a partner in Section 7, Block VI, Maungakaretu. It was resolved \to decline the request, but no objection will be made to his leaving the section to visit Rotorua for six months. .

Mr. H., Burreli applied to take Mr. John Burrcll as a partner in Section 8, Block I,' Mangawhero. It was resolved_ to adviso him that, until he had complied -with the provisions of Section 84 of the Land Act, 1908, there was no power to approve a transfer except for special and unforseen circumstances. , !

Mr. W. Windelov applied to transfer Section 73, Block V, .Waiopehu, Horowhenua East V.S., to Mr. A. Crow, the Horowhenua County Council wrote to tho effect that the water-races on this section had been allowed to get into a state of disrepair, 'and it was resolved to approvo the transfer sub-' ject to a certificate from the " council being deposited to the effect that tho races were in a. satisfactory condition. Mr. R. Blackburn applied to transfer Section 49, Horowhenua V.S., to Mrs! E. Walker, and it was resolved to postpolio consideration until 1 next meeting, pending further inquiry by the C.L.R. Mr. J. A. Boby wroto asking for permission to let one of the cottages on Section -.'9, Maimnui V.S. It was resolved to approve on tho usual Conditions. .',.-■

Mr. Charles Dick,, sub-lessee of Section 7, Block IX, Apiti, applied to under-let tho same to Mrs.- O. M. Brown. It was resolved that although the board has 110 objection to a transfer of tho sub-lease, it does .not seo its way to approve of an under-lease of the same. . ■

Mr. W. Box, lessee of Section 175, Block VIII, R-aetihi Township, applied to let the house on the sani'o to Mr. 6. A. Vincent at Ss. per week. It was resolved to approve on tho usual conditions. THIRDS. With regard to the thirds for Sections 2, 3, 4, 9, and 28, Block V, Karioi (Waimarinq County) it was resolved'to withhold the arnpunt now in hand (£163 4s. 4d.) -uiitil it had been decided what ,'road it ;Could be most beneficially spent upon. The present main road,-which gives access to the sections, is in good repair, and tho board deeinod it inadvisable to approve the County Couni cil's proposal that the money should bo spent on the Dreadnought Road. The Rangitikei County Council. submitted proposals for the expenditure of thirds accrued to April 30, 1910. Tho board approved those proposals on which the ranger reported favourably, aiid empowered the chairman to approvo tho remainder when tho. County Council has approved tho proposed amendments. Amount of thirds, £1001 Gs. Bd. Tho Iviwitea County Council submitted proposals for tho expenditure of thirds accrued on Section 21, Block X, Hautapu, and for tho • hypothecation of thirds to pay interest on a loan for the construction of the Karowareiva Bridge. The board approved tho proposals subject to tho usual- investigation by tho ranger. The Mangawhere Road Board submitted proposals for the expenditure of thirds accrued on a number of sections stated in schedule and for the hvpothecation of thirds to pay interest on a loan for the To Komai Road. TI;o, board approved the proposals subject to tlie usual iuvestigatiou by. the ranger.

The Hutfc County Council submitted proposals for the expenditure of thirds accrued to April 30, '1910. The ranger's report being, favourable, tlio board approved the proposals. Amount approved, £8 10s. 4d.

Pemberton's application for a renewal of the lease of Section I, Block IV, -Apiti, held over from last meeting, it was resolved to submit Mr. Luckie's protest to' the Under-Secretary for a legal opinion. The Commissioner . submitted a schedule of sixteen selectors who.have been granted'tiine in wliick-to pay the rental in arrear, and it was resolved to confirm his-action.

Mr. J. S .Freeman, lessee of Section ■ Z 1 ; Horopito West, - wrote . stating that_he .is living on his wife's Section 4,, adjoining. It was resolved to accept this as satisfactory in tho" meantime,. Mr. R, Jackson wrote with reference to the refund of a portion of the deposit paid by him,' Section 30, Block VII, Mauganui, and'asked that tho amount, £4 135., be as owing to tile .reduction in area in survey this amount was not needed as a deposit. It was resolved to comply with the request. , With reference to 'Messrs. Booth, Macdonald and Co.'s application for right to mill flax on Rangiwaea Block, it was resolved to' empower the Commissioner'to deal with it.

Mr. K. G. Lester, whose application for Section 96, Block VIII, Belmont was approved on June 30 last, to give up the section and obtain refund of deposit, it; was-resolved, under the circumstances,' to" accept the surrender and to refund him £1 Is. paid as lease fee. '

Mr. C. R-. Hain applied for exemption from residence oil Section 78 Mananui V.S., for twelv'e months, or' until the land at the \ back is open for selection, as the area which lie at present holds is not sufficient. It was resolved 1 to approve under the circumstance's.

Mr. Monfnes, he had -inspected an area in Section 7, Block 1, liunua, which the Presbyterian Maori Mission desired to select. It was resolved that as the land contains scenic beauties which it is desirablb to conserve, the resolution .of October 28, 1009 bo rescinded. , An endeavour will be made to secure another area for the Presbyterian Boys' Mission.

A letter was received from the Un-der-Secretary for Crown Lands with reference to Mr. J.' S. Dunn's selection of Section 2,. Block 111, Ivaitioko,. : >i addition to the four, holdings already held by him ih the Haivko's ..Bay 'district, making a total of 1810 acres 1 rood 31 perches, and it was resolved to suggest that Mr. Dunn's interest might be forfeited for non-residence on Section '2 if ho does not wish to give up'any >of the Hawkc's Bay sections.

It was resolved to declare Mr. R. T. Robert's interest ill Section 1, Block IV, Kait-ieke, forfeited for failure to commence bushfelling on the land during the bushfelling season, which has now expired.
