IRELAND AND DEVOLUTION. By TelserapU-Prcss AEsociatioa-Copyright. ; London, October 17. ' Owing to the newspaper repeating Mr. Redmond's alleged statement in America in favour of devolution, Mr. Redmond has cabled to the United Irish League an entire repudiation. Mr. O'Brien, Nationalist.member for Cork,' states that the- suggostion that Mr. Redmond's i favouring of devolution was an invention, would not deceivo anybody, was dispelled by the fact thai, Mr. T. P. O'Connor made a declaration almost identical in terms in Canada tho same day.
MR O'BRIEN'S "GADFLY \ RHETORIC." (Rec. Oct. 19, 0.10 a.m.) | London,; October 18., Tho newspapers aro reprinting Mr. Redmond' artiole in "M'Clure's Magazine" for October, which they declare to be proof of his change to devolution. The "Morning Leader" says Mr. Redmojid's repudiation may be much misunderstood. The country has recently witnessed an astonishing -movement in tho Unionist press in favour of Homo Rulo along Imperial roads, and Mr. O'Brien's gadfly rhetoric , has goaded Mr. Redmond into a denial which may destroy a very promising movement.
