Delegate after :ddegato, as nominations were made, rose;, to..decline tho honour. Mr. F. M. B. Fisher proposed that tho retiring management committee should bo re-elected oil bloc, but its chairman (Professor-'T:. A. Hunter): declined hfrminatioh on tho ground that ho could not afford .the .timo necessary, and ;iis ©xamp'.o was followed on - various grounds by'the remaining members of tho committee. As no one feemcd willing to acccpt offico, Professor Hunter mpved .that the meeting : be adjourned for, a fortnight. Mr. .Fisher, objected that if this course were followed there might not bo a quorum when tho meetresumed. -In that event , tho association: would be left • suspended, liko Mahomet's coffin; between: Heaven and earth, and; they might not bo able to get it hack again. Under the circumstances, he was inclined to favour a proposal raised by " another deJegate that the headquarters of tennis should be ; removed to anothor. centre. ■ "Is there any,; objection," , inquired Air. Fisher, "to; remov-inc tho headquarters from Wellington?" "Nono whatovor," replied several delegates. . ; It was pointed out, however,, that a motion, to this 1 effect could not bo proposed until notice of motion bad been given. The ohairman said he saw nothing to. prevent tho appointment of a management committee in anchor town. If a deadlock arose'they must get a, management committee, where'.thoy could. . Finally it was agreed; to appoint a managomoht committeo pro' tem, pending a;permanent arrangement.
