MISSIONS TO SEAMEN.
■ The Missions, tp Seamen Institute ' was crowded to the doors on, Wednesday evening, when an enjoyable: concert' was provided by the Principal of. Wellington College; (Mr.'J, P, Firth) and Mrs. Firth. :Mr. James Moore (the missioner) occupied the chair. The •programme was contributed to -by. the ; following :-~Song; Miss Ward; wliistling'-solo,:Mr. Gardiner; recitation, 'Master Shorney; song, Mr. Allen (TJlimaroa)); humorous stories, Mr.Firth;...recitation,', Mr. Goss ' (E.M.S. Corinth;c)i Mrs. .Gardiner and Miss Rapley acted as accompanists. Exhibitions of gymnastic .exercises, and club swinging were', given 'by a'number of ..boys and girls under. Mr. .Dovey's : direction. Several very popular, choruses were sung by. the aiidienco,'and'an amusing conundrum competition was'held and: won by sailors from'ships-in port. During a short interval : tho missioner delivered an earnest address .on the temperance question. Fiftecjv.men subsequently took the pledge of total abstinence. The performers were accorded a hearty vote of thanks at ,tho conclusion, Mr. Firth briefly responding. Light refreshments were afterwards dispensed. . . .;
Miss Ellen Seaton, of 'the; London and .Middlesex Rifle Association, shooting at liisley, made a score of. 100 out of a possible ,105..
