• Statistics sjiowmg the, arrivals in and departures from New Zealand during the month of August are published in this week's. "Gazette."., The figures show that 2326 left' New Zealand for various places, while; 2498 arrived here, an excess over the'departures', of 172. ■. These figures are much the same as in August of last year, when the arrivals numbered 2457, and the departures 2382. / Among the arrivals 602 came from the Old Country, 318 from Victoria, 1348 from New South Wales, 157 from-Tasmania, 34: from Fiji, 21. from the' Pacific Islands—Friendly, Navigator, and Society Groups-while 18 came from other British possessions.
