The : purpose! of the Mission Study. Circle .was to draw out: the people and let. them express their opinions freely,./ "It was not enough to'listen to the preach each Sunday. There must be an independent study; of, religion if-it was to be really understood. During this session, a toxt-book entitled '"The Approaoh of Islam" , will be'studied and, after that -Mr. Williams advises' the study of, the Bible. He suggests';,also, that the ministers . of./ the : -different ohurches would 'find it helpful to them as well as to their members if they, met. once , a week : and discussed the sermois preached on the previous Sunday."'/' The eenera.l. formation of .Mission/.Study Circles would benefit the churches as a whole: -These.circles are not intended to evolve into debating' societies, but, wisely conducted, they tend to deepen the spiritual'life of itheir/members. ;•••

"Benares" was delivered, under the auspices of. the London /Missionary Society, by Mr. W. F. Eggers.
