The increasing unrest in the Unionist rank- and file has resulted in a hundrerj, Lords and Commoners, headed by Lord Willoughby De Broke,; and Mr. Henry Page Croft, Unionist member for Christchurch, forming an organisation to induce the party leaders, to take up more active propaganda work instead of relying on their' present. defensive policy. : ■ It is urged that the leaders should give a plain and definite lead, and: make a statement regarding their legislative programme. ■"
Complaint is also made of the aloofness of ex-Ministerialists, which produces a. sense of stagnation. - It is • insisted. that the party's organisation' is unsatisfactory, and it is added that in view of the impending negotiations with Canada and tlsj United States it is most urgent that the Unionist attituder on Imperial preference should be made plain. ?■•'.' If Liberals hold the Colonial : Confer-; ence next year,lmperial/consolidation, it is declared, will be practically destroyed, owing to: the. Government's Frce-tradoism.
