The governing .'bodies': of Rugby and Association football, also hookey and lacrosse, have: had the matter in hand for some time past and will each place- representative teams-in the field. -, Tho games' will be necessarily short,- arid they'will be played in two spells'.of a quarter of an hour, and should be, for this reason, very fast. The: public will not only have an .opportunity of witnessing five different games played by; the picked players, of Wellington in one afternoon, but will" also have a fine chance.of comparing the respective merits for all the games. An exhibition : will' also _ be given of a game of basketball which is somewhat now to Wellington'. ' A tug-of-war contest will bo held,. seven teams having entered. The annual race of tho Harriers' Union will .take place-during tho afternoon, seven teams having also entered for this event.' The race will start from the park and the competitors, after going round the course once, will proceed to Island Bay, and then back to the park, .where they will finish in front of tho grand stand."
