BOILERMAKERS' DISPUTE. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. London, September 2G. It is admitted that tho conferences held at Edinburgh between representatives of the shipbuilding trades and the .boilorniakers have had tho effect of clearing the air in the direction of a settlement. • Tho boilermnkers' representatives have appointed a small committee to consider tho employers' proposals in detail, to suggest any alterations that may, bo deemed necessary, and finally to submit a practicable draft scheme to tho next meeting. At the last conference the .employers proposed that fines for breaches of the agreement should be thirty shillings for the first breach, and three pounds for the second, the "Boilermakers' Society to guarantee the fines, which would bo utilised for the benefit "of boilermakers' widows and. orphans, members refusing to pay to be debarred from employment in the federated yards for progressive periods according to the number of times the offence was repeated,-the society for such periods not to pay. rebellious members .unemployment pay or give them other benefits. Abraham, .Labour- member for Rhonnda Valley,' Glamorganshire, in' view of to-morrow's' ballot, advises 'supporting tho Cambrian miners financially instead of a general stoppage of work. He says that if the latter is done nothing can prevent a calamitous crisis; the men .will not be allowed to resume except on terms less-favourable than at present.. ■ .
