"IT WOULD RUIN BUSINESS."

Auckland, September 13. I "It .'would ' practically ruin' my .business if. I had to brand my'stuff as: made in Now Zealand," said a member of the Auckland • Industrial.. Association with reference to the Factories Bill at a meeting this afternoon. He added: "The prejudice in some lines is very strong, and I-know-it is in my particular ease. , Fortunately I don't come under the Dog Act." Chorus of members: "Tho Dog' Act!" f .".Well," added the speaker, "call it the Factories Act—it. is the same, thing. In certain businesses the people,think that they are buying English of imported stuff, and it is. necessary that they should think so.' If they didn't they /wouldn't buy it." Mr. H. Clark stated that his firm would not object to the "made in New Zealand" brand, .though, some other firms did. It was ■ resolved; that a circular bo addressed' to members of.the association; drawing their'attention : to the Factories' Bill, and inquiring' as to its probablo effect on the particular industry of each.
