" Mr.. Hanari: (Invercargill) took up the - - cudgels on behalf of-the legal .profession, '- and "our sympathetic and tender-hearted judges."' Ho assorted that it was a gross slander to say. that they had . little sympathy with humanitarian'ideas..:-Lawyers had taken- a conspicuous and: successful ' part' in. advocating an dsecurihg humanitarian legislation. Among lawyers and judges, generally speaking,, there- were : ' ; men as honourable, humane, and: sympathetic as men in any . other occupatioa '• :i ' of life. -.
