AUSTRALIA AND DOMINION.

Tho acting-secretary of the Seamen's Union, in discussing tho proposed Federal Navigation Bill, said: "We are asking for exactly the same conditions' as havo been operative in New Zealand for some years." What was wanted specifically was that all ships trading between Australian ports should be compelled to observe Australian wages and working ' conditions. This was the New Zealand rule. • . Referring to tho circular issued by "the Seamen's Union at Dunedin, urging that the observance of Australian white conditions should be\ made compulsory between New Zealand and Australia, the secretary said the union had. already agreed to support tho agitation. It was of the utmost importance that the conditions' appertaining to Australian and Now Zealand shipping should be made to apply to ships trading between the two countries.
