Following on a: forty-eight hours' downpour of rain,. an embankment of the River Tenies burst, and: a great part of. the town of ' Temesvar, Hungary, , was destroyed. . . Temesvar is the most important centre of traffic and industry in south Hungary. It lies IGO- miles south-west of Budapest, and has a population of between 50,000 and 60,000 inhabitants.
