Brodie); and: Councillors Bowie, Muir, llichards, McClelland, and M'Leod. The Superintendent of the State. Guar-. anteed. Advances Department, advised that the loan; of ,£4S,ooo:for water supply had been-. approved by. the Minister; and 48 debentures would be forwarded 'to ' the oo'uncil'in the course of a week'or.so to complete tho transaction. ■ : ' The engineer,' in .his report for the four weeks ; ended'August 27, stated that the formation and; metalling'of Pearce and Mantell Streets had been completed. . About seven' chains of "metalling remained to be done on the Seatoun Heights Eoad. ■It was proposed, for the coming , month, ■ to complete the latter road and proceed .with' Church' Street. The'drainage of Tahi and Eua Streets would be begun next 1 Monday. "It was proposed to carry the footpath beyond the intersection of Hay and Church Streets, so as to give a better footway and avoid the necessity of shifting an electric pole and lamp. The sites for the bathing shelters would l>2'fixed early next week, and the work --could;be puc in hand .during the month. A report on the seaweed along Marine Parade would be submitted at next meeting. The teport was adopted. ' The Tramways Comniittoe reported'that it had decided in-favour of interviewing ■ tho city tramways'' engineer regarding the running through to Miramar Avenuo on Sundays. . Tho. , committee also recomraendfd. that tho fare on all cars, between .the city boundary and the junction should bo Id. ' .■ ' ' The report was adopted, and tho council resolved .that:the 8.46 junction car on Sunday evenings, should run right through to Miramar TSforth. '...■,
