WHAT DID IT COST?
THE SAN FRANCISCO SERVICE. Recently the Prime Minister stated that the total, amount paid for the old Auck-land-San Francisco service ran to between ,£65,000 and .£70,000. These figures, Mr. Massey points but, are evidently based on a' misapprehension. The ' net cost' to the colony of the'service for 1902, 1903, and 1904, as given in-the Postal Department's reports,. contained in the appendices to journals'of the House, was: 1902, ;ei7,o9i; 1903,..£14,685j and 19M,. £14,796
