The disease in the. Tasmanian crops has affected tlio quantity available;, as. well as the quality -pf. what '■ we get. ' Still it is notable' that;the imported article can be sold at £1 less'than the home-grown commodity. v The tasmanian potatoes are not :of •yorj' economical conformation, ..but some of the'"Canterbury lines could hardly te improved on in that respect. .. . TKero.does not appear to be any good prospect .of tho, country of New Zealand coming to tho ■ rescue. :■'.
