ONSLOW AFFAIRS.
A meeting of the Onslow Borough Council was held last night, the Mayor (Mr. J. (i. Harkriess) presiding. Tho application of Messrs. Middlefon and Smith to huvo ; the- proposed subdivision of Woodmancoto Roau approved n'as. granted,' tho formation of Ihe road past the bowling green to'be of' the same width as the existing road. - It was decided to instruct the ranger to take action, in regard to' wandering sheep. 7 .. /. The Cashmere Estate Company were granted a year's extension of time for the formation of, Lower Road. The Sanitation, Lighting, and Wiirks Committee recommended that-'the Wellington Gas Company 'be informed that the council considered the conditions of their lighting proposal too stringent, hut that if the: Johnsonvillo Town Board reopened negotiations, tho council would do likewise. The recommendation was agreed to. ■ It was decided to ask the Gas Company to repair footpaths and kerbing opened up in removing the disused lamps on the l J orirna Koad. It was resolved that for financial reasons the council could not at present entertain the proposal to construct a road to connect Izard Road and Moanu Crescent. ! Repairs to several culverts were decided on, and it was agreed to erect new electric lamps as follow:—Ngaio Ward: Four on Colwny Estate, four "Crofton Downs, two Crofton West, two Old •Porirua Road, one Inlay Crescent, uno. Totara 'Terrace. Kaiwarra Ward:. Six for To Kaianga. Khandallah Ward: two Alexandra Road, one Main Road (near Mr. DumbeH's), one Moann Crescent. •■_ •
Notice of motion was given by Coun-cillor-Stafford: "That the councillors for tho .Khandallah Ward and the Mayor be constituted'a committee to report to.the council as to the expediency and ways and means of erecting a public hall in the Khandallah Ward."
