A brilliant attempt to fly from Paris to London ihas been matlo by M. Moissant,''an aviator who only learnt to fly a month ago, and who had only made five previous ascents.

M. Moissant; mounted on a Bleriot monoplane fitted with a Gnome motor, and accompanied •'- by M. Filieux, a mechanic, flew from Paris to Amiens, a distance of about 70 miles, then on to Calais, another stretch of 80 miles. From Calais he flew across tho Channel to Deal, on the Kentish coast, a little to the north of Dover, and twenty : five ' miles oversea from Calais. Only two stops were made during the journey. ; ' M. Moissant is .now resting at Deal, and will continue his flight to the Crystal Palace, London, to-day, a further flight of about 45 miles.

The total distance covered so far, as the crow flies, is: between 170 and 180 miles.. . Mi Moissant is 35 years of age, aim was born at Chicago. He wore a layei of.
