LIQUOR IN MILITARY CAMPS.

IS AN AMENDMENT IN THE ACT NECESSARY? Speaking in the House yesterday, Mr. T. E. .Taylor, M.P. for Christchurch North, drew the attention of the Government to an. opinion given .by the Crown Law Office that "under last year's Act liquor could not be excluded, as was intended, from orderly rooms and drillsheds, in.addition to other places where military training was given. In view of the desirableness of protecting the. cadets in the matter, ho thought that tli« Minister ior Education should consult with the Minister for Defence with the object of having amending legislation [ this session with a view 01 giving lull effect to the wish of Parliament, as. expressed last' session, on the question of preventing the introduction of liquor into places where the defence forces were being trained. . The Hon. G.Fowlds said that he was \ not aware that any doubt-, had arisen as to the effectiveness of the legislation providing for the exclusion of liquor from training camps. He would be very glad to bring the matter under the notice of the Minister for Defence. There no doubt but that the Minister for Defence would be quite--agreeable to make such amendments in .accordance,', with the | manifest intention'', of Parliament as .expressed on the point l last session.
