-——«-—— WHAT IS BEING DONE. In preparation- far the Wellington City Men's Brotherhood, which is to commence its public life on Sunday next, the liev. E. •■().■ Biamircs, superintendent of. the Methodist Central Mission, has addressed tlie workers at several factories and foundries during the past fortnight, and also the employees of .the Petone Workshops. Mivßlamires explained that'tho new organisation will be non-sectarian, and nonpolitical, and that its object will be to help on true social and reform movements. Membership of tho Brotherhood will be free, and the mes-ri-ii-js will be open to men over sixteen years of ago, who need not necessarily 'become members. Much interest was shown in, the movement by those addressed.
The Hon. G. Fovrlds will preside, and Messrs. E. A. Wri.'ht and F.M.B. Fisher, 'M.P.'si will give addresses a" the first •meeting, to be' held in ,the Kind's Theatro next Sunday afternoon. On the following Sunday, Mr. D. M'Laren, M.P., and Mr, E. J. Carey, president of the Trades, and Labour Council, will be the speakers. Tho meetings will deal wholly with social and moral subjects, and questions/will be welcomed, though there will be no general discussion. A Visitation-Committee- has been formed to keep in touch with the sick, and .other members have been ap-. pointed who will, give a hearty welcome to strangers, A system of registration of members has been arranged, and it is hoped after a time' to establish a book club, which will provide members with popular and. helpful literature on easy terms. ...
