SLAUGHTERMEN'S STRIKE.

The Glebe Island Slaughtering trouble has not yet been settled. -The men met, and decided to refuse to return to work unless the employers guaranteed them day work, irrespective of any decision by the Wages Board. They are also determined, even if the Wages Board awards piecework, that they will not accept the award. The men are. sanguine of snecess, as trade will drift to the country slaughter-' houses. The secretary of tho union states thi.t the officials are anxious for tho men lo accept the latest proposals, because thr.t would strengthen their ; position before the Wages Board, but they refuse. The men have not returned to work at Auburn, stating that taey want a new agreement granting payment of wages for the time lost in waiting for sheep.
