Theatre Royal, to-night, the. house being packed in every part. . The proceedings were opened by the Mayor (Mr. J. Vigor Brown), who delivered a short and appropriate speech. .To-night's contests, resulted as follow:— Ladies'.humorous elocution, own choice: Miss G. Gallien-(Hastings); 1; Miss L. Parson (Wellington), 2; Miss S. Hapley (Wellington), 3. . - , , Tenor so-lo: C. Prime (Napier), 1; B. Bichards (Nelson), 2. ' : Piano (senior): Miss B. Mackay (Danne- . wke), 1; Mies C. Masters (Thames), 2. .■',- Vocal solo, girls under ' 18—Miss F. ' Sutherland.(Wanganui), 1; Miss T.-Peter-sen' (Garterton) and Miss M. Arnott (Napier) tie. for second place. ' Elocution (Men): A. E. Knssoll (Napier), 1; B. A. Brewer (Napier), 2. The judge of music is Mr. K. Parker (Wellington); end of elocution Mr. B. J. Dolan (Napier)
