WOMEN'S EMPLOYMENT BUREAU.
During the month of July the- following number of applications have been received and dealt with by the-various bureaux:—Auckland, 146 were from employers, and 69 from women desiring work. Out of this number, 64 engagements have been made, 44 of those engaged being single and 10 married.- > A statement appeared in the press during the month to the effect that there-was, an over-supply of domestics in Auckland. This was''...contrary, .to fact, as there were three times /rhoru applications for assistants thaii the office could supply. There-were plenty of good situations vacant'for. the right class of girls.

• Chris'tchuioh.—For the month ending ■July. 20, 69 workers)applied for employment, and 60 were suited. One of this number was suited twice, thus making 01 ■'• actual engagements. No hotel-workers are now waiting engagements. There is' not an hotel-worker to .be got'for any position whatever, and many hotelkecpers are.unable-to got the necessary, employees to carry.--oh their '.work. It 'is expected that all hotelworkers will be fully employed for' the next eight or nine months. Two. hundred and forty-two employers sought the assistance of the branch during the month.' Of this.total. 107. were: for generals, and owing. to.' the, dearth, of ■workers 'only thirteen places liavo'been .filled.*.'. Several now. arrivals-^-applied this month, and'were assisted to the class of employment they had been accustomed ,to. Dunedin;—For the period ended July 20,'. 106 applications wore registered by employers requiring assistants, .and 50 were'received from employees seeking work, 36 of whom were suited. Nine wore married women and' 27 single. Seven persons applied and were placed in employment who, had been previously assisted—viz., 2 generals,. 1 : girl, to assist, and i charwomen. Aniongst the latter, six engagements were distributed. ' Notwithstanding this, being considered the slack season, there is plenty of_ work offering, and no girl need be idle who is anxious for work and willing to accept private employment. ■ ■','' ~
