WOODVILLE BOROUGH COUNCIL
Tho monthly meeting of the AVood- ' ville"' Borough Council was - held 'ou Thursday'evening,-when the. chief business'' transacted was as; follows:—In •connection with, 'the , opening -up' ' of, a certain street to connect with Tay Street, close by. the railway line,. the Railway Department wrote, stating that"tho : -plan- 6f : 'tile borough did not show the street mentioned, Mr. Burnett, borough solicitor, was certain', however, that the street had been sui> .veyed and laid off.'. The gas manager "reported that 17,600. "feet of gas had been made in'ekcess'of the amount used for the month of' July last year, New specifications are to be drawn up for tho street maintenance contract. The Health Officer' is to bo asked to attend a meeting of ratepayers, which will bo held shortly to consider tht drainage loan proposal. Considerable discussion .took place in connection with matters concerning the bowling green, and it was decided that members of the old club. .should ,! obtain twenty persons who* slioiild' pay 205.before Moveniber, and that twenty ladies should pay 7s. 6d. each, these amounts to be paid' to tho council; who would then put the green in order and maintain it. It was decided to reduce the price' of coko to Is. 6d. per bag. The tender of Mr. Stone, of" Petono, to rebuild two now retorts at the gasworks, was accepted. The finance report stated that the. overdraft amounts to £2139. ..'"'..'
