The deceased lady had teen ailing for: some considerable time, and her death was , not altogether ■ unexpected. ..,' Sho . was.a .daughter of. Mr; W, tJrguhart,.bf. Foatherston, and leavca a family of four sons and two daughters. We., have .lately had. a .. few ~ really. \ spring-like days, and the country is now looking at its best. The large quantity of rain that has fallen this whiter has' had the. effect of making every thing./ look particularly green. The Feather- - - ston' County Council have. been paying ,- special attention to the roads about tho' district, and the consequence • is. that' they are now in perfect order, .and adrive over them in a motor-car is-a-" thing to remember. One can go for, miles on these roads and never meet a ; rut or a loose stone.; and the smooth gliding motion over such surfaces as • these roads present is indeed a revela- . tiou to one accustomed to the ordinary up-country roads. Intending motorists could not do better than - "try a trip through this end. at any rate, of tho Wairarapa. Some' beautiful trips can" bo made, arid a" run down to the Western ; Lake, an avenue of Native bush overhead, .. : and glorious/-fcriis^,and mosses, makes as pleasant a drive as . one could wish for. ' ' .' Mr. 6. T. Allen, who has been carrying on a blacksmith's business here for the past sixteen 1 -years, is about'to take •lis.departure, and intends- to scttlo'm . Tiniaru. He has always taken a keen interest in matters., relating to sport, and he; will bo greatly missed here. FEILDINC. .At a general meeting of the Fcilding Bowling Club, which was very . well attended (Mr. J. M. 8,. Lochh'ead oc'cupying..tho chair),, it was- decided- to 'leave the ' Manawatu•'- Association and join tho "Wanganui Centre; The general opinion of the'meeting was that the Wanganui Centre would bo tho. much , more convenient body-to belong to.. : A .visitor ..from tho King Country [ wis iirFcilding on Saturday stated that there was- good dairying country along-the : Main Trunk line,";and that tho industry would be. a .big thing there when air the land was'''cleared. 'The : ; Feilding, district would,, ho said, find the Main Trunk lino providing a good •' market for.dairy cattle,' particularly ' : for the hardy breeds.' In tho return '. uiatch Kimbolton won by 8 points, to ,' nil. Apiti beat Kimbolton by 6 points ! to S.
