THE NODINE LITIGATION.
CIVIL SIDE.
The Chief Justice (Sir Robert Stout) has acceded to the request of Mr. Charles Nodine to postpone certain litigation in which he is concerned until after the criminal sittings of the Supreme Court, which begin to-day. This applies to two summonses, one of which was taken put by James Alexander Hannah for the signing of a lease of premises owned by him, in order that Nodiue may become liable for the rent, and' the other by Nodine against Hannah for stay of proceedings pending appeal. Both summonses are sequels to a judgment of the Chief Justice ordering Nodine to pay £77 13s. 6d. costs and to execute a leasß of tho premises. ■ ' The matter was again mentioned in Chambers on Saturday morning, when the Chief Justice intimated that both summonses would stand adjourned .until after the'. criminal'' sittings, during' which Mr. Nodine will stand his trial on a charge of having committed perjury during the hearing of the original civil action. The Chief Justice also said that the matter would he moved from Chambers into Court, and would probably be taken by Mr;- Justice Chapman, who, in the meantime, as presiding Judge at the criminal sittings, will hear the charge of perjury.
Mr. A. Fair appeared for Mr. Hannah. Mr. Nodine, who has not engaged counsel, at any stage, was not present.
