. ANNUAL MEETIN^. The annual meeting of tho congregation of the Eent Terrace Presbyterian Church wns well attended on Wednesday evening. The ilev. J. Kennedy Elliott was in Iho chair. ■ Mr. M. Fraser (Deacons* Court) moved the adoption of tho twenty-third report and • balance-sheet for ' tho year ending Juno 30. This stated, inter alia, that the additions to tho congregation during the year were -IS, and the removals 34, The total number of members on the communion roll stands at 31G, and the average attendance drains tlic year was 182. The number of baptisms for the year was IS.
Tho resignation of Mr. Matthew Barr was received, with great regret, lie having worked in the service of tho church since ISS6, first. starting as a scholar in the Sunday School, and successively serving as teacher, deacon, and elder. The attendance at tho weekly devotional meeting 'has greatly increased. The resignation of Mr. Meadows as organist and choirmaster was received with much regret. Mr. Udie lias been appointed his successor. The number of scholars attending tlio Sabbath School stands at 23i, an increase of 13 for the year 1910. , Tho average attendance stands at 162. Even allowing for inclement weather, there is much room for improvement, and it is hoped that parents will assist by seeing that their children are regular attendants. ■In addition to the above, there' aro 36 names on the cradle r rt>ll. The staff comprises 12 ladies and 10 gentlemen, all of .whom are members of the church. The attendance at tho church has, on tho whole, been satisfactory, but there are a number of vacant pews. Church members continue to manifest much zeal for missions, both foreign and homo, and ,£139 has bean raised for these purposes. With a view to affording the minister some relief and help in his inccssant and wearing labours, Miss Mackenzie (Sister Elizabeth) had been appointed deaooncss, and entered on her duties on July.l, 1910. . The receipts havi exceeded the expenditure by some .£lB. The surplus of assets over liabilities amounts to .£5334 Bs, .6d.
Mr. Jrasei; complimented the members of the congregation on their generosity in contributing to church objects. Mr. D. Robertson, the only original elder of the church, bore testimony to the good work done by the younger men. Air. W. Miller, church treasurer,, stated that while special revenue had increased as compared with last. year, the ordinary revenue showed a slight falling-ofF. Mr. E. C. Jack, secretary of the Sunday School, showed the position of the now building fund. • Mr. W. MDonald spoke o£ the social work of the congregation, including the ladies' guild, and different branches of church activity were referred to by the following Missions, Miss Cockih; Sunday School, Mr. W. M. Hannay; Bibleclasses and Saturday night club, Mr. C. S: Falconer; Christian Endeavour Society, Miss. Bertenshaw. . Tho. report- and balance-sheet ..were adopted unanimously. ' '
An entertainment programme was provided as .follows:—Songs, Mrs. Kennedy, Mrs. W. Brown, Miss Mitchell, and Mr. Goudie; recitation, .Mrs. Sutcliffe. Refreshments were served, by the' ladies.
