» At a well-attended meeting held in the Club Booms last evening it was decided to reconstitute the Lower Hutt Recreation. Club: The membership fee, it was decided, should be 10s. per year. Mr. Hawthorn, owner of the Club Rooms, announced his intention of building a gymnasium 40 feet by 35 feet The following committee was appointed:—Messrs. Hawthorn (chairman), Barlow, Miller, and Asten (appointed by Mr. Hawthorn), Ward, Hariow, and Cheverall. , ~
11l the recent inter-club billiard tournament held at Petone tho Petone Working Men's Club, were winners of the shield, having ten wins to their credit. The Petone Junior .Club took second place with nine wins, and the Petone Commercial Club third place, with five wins. SKATING RINK. The floor was again crowded lost evening during both sessions, clearly showing the growing enthusiasm of Petone skaters. The carnival on August 17 promises to bo a great success. The programme for that ovening will be as attraptiVe as any in tho Wellington district. C.E.M.S. The usual quarterly "social" under the auspices of the Petone Church of England Men's Society was held in tho Victoria Street Ball, Petone, 011 Tliesday night, the Rev. J. D. Rnssell presiding over a largo attendance of members. An excellent' programme was submitted those contributing being Messrs. Simt>! son, Ellis, Hause, Bowman, Mayor An drews, Shardlaw, and Mothes. '
