Sir George Eeid, High Commissioner for Australia, stated to irn interviewer that the Commonwealth was linking up the British possessions in the Pacific by wireless telegraphy. It was not long since the Pacific seemed outside the range of national disturbance, but. the United States, which liad, previously looked Atlantic-wards, was now ;steadily looking towards the Pacific. 'In imagination he pictured the future of the Pacific as dominated by the influences of the United States. ;and Australia.
