CENTRAL MISSION.

A FINANCIAL APPEAL.The King's Theatre has been secured by the Wellington Central Mission for its Sunday evening services for the next five years. "The evening service," states the mission's "information sheet" for August, "is being viewed as the service for the people, and gladly have wo welcomed the presence of those unattached to church life who have been in attendance,, in some cases so regularly." The financial position of the" mission is thus stated:—Tlie estimate of the an-, nual expenditure, apart from band, brotherhood, and Sunday School expenses, is i! 700, of which .030 per annum is- the expenditure due to fho mission's lack of suitable properties of its . own. free of debt. It is hoped that in time this expenditure, which is as low as possible under existing ' circumstances,, will be., rendered unnecessary by the possession of suitable mission premises. To face this total of .£7OO a grant is received from the Methodist Home Mission Fluid of .£2OO for this year. This leaves £50(1 to be raised locally. Over .£9 10s. per week being needed, the Sunday collections -will be , insufficient. There is thus a call for a. special financial effort. Tlie ladies of tho mission are taking up a ".Golden Treo" effort very enthusiastically. ' It is to bo held on September 14, and their aim is to raise. <£o0 thereby. As this is the quarter of the mission's annual appeal to the city, special attention is called to tlie need for liberal support. At the anniversary celebration of the mission, to l>e held on Sunday next, ihe Itev. C. 11. Laws, 8.A., president of the conference, will conduct _ three services, speaking in the Kind's Theatre in the afternoon on the subject. "lingland To-day: A Social Study." Mr. Laws has recently visited England. He will also speak at the annual conversazione of the mission, to be held in the Herbert Street Hall on Tuesday next. In all probability the Brotherhood will open in the King's Theatre on August 21.
