MORRIS-TUBE SHOOTING.
A triangular Morris-tube match was 'fired on Tuesday evening at the "Zealandia" range, Lower Taranaki Street, between teams representing Messrs. Watkins, Tycr, and Tolan, Ltd., Short Bros, and C. and A. Odlin's, Ltd. ,A very, interesting teams' contest was witnessed. C. and A., Odlin's put .up a fine scoro, averaging just one point ' short of 32, and winning by 46 points. Watkins, Tycr and Tolan came second, with a scoro of 241, with Short Bros. 20 points lower down. The following are the detailed scores:— 0. and A. Odlin's, Ltd.: — A. C. Maisey, 34; D. The Karori Rifle Club will fire a hmatcb, 12 men 'aside, on Saturday next, commencing at' 7 p.m.. against the Gas | Company, at tho Bncklo Street Range. The following will represent the club:— President Marshall, Riflemen . Halliday, Pringle, Tarr, Rabo, Mcdhurst, Bulford, Guise, France, Claridge, Hodder, and Maisey. The; club's weekly sweepstake will -be fired in conjunction with tho. match. liiHeman J. Reed has kindly presented a trophy for the highest aggregate in the next four shoots, commencing next Saturday.
Steps are being taken to establish a Morris-tnbo Association in Wellington, and • a preliminary meeting with that end in view was held at the Trades Hall last evening. Matters were set in train, and a committee appointed, with power to add to its number, to draft proposals for the constitution and government of the now association. Morris-tuho and miniature ; rifle shooting as a winter evening pastime has grown into popularity by leaps and bounds and between 25 and 30 teams, representing commercial houses, are at tho present moment in the thick of exciting competitions for various trophies. The formation of a properly constituted miniature rifle association on the lines of those which arc now in full swing m the Old Country was advocated in tho columns of The Dominion about a year ago, but thero was no immcdiato response. The matter has now been taken up in real earnest.
