ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
' •> A SERIOUS ACCIDENT.; Early." yesterday. morning a serious accident befell a married man named. Andrew Kiddle, (employed at Dimook's bacon, factorjvait. NgahauVanga. ; It appears .that Kiddie and another employee were en-; e'aged in: oiling the bearings of the overhead 'machinery.; when suddenly the former lost, bis balance J and. fell a distance of from twenty to thirty_feet'on to . the concrete floor. He was. picked up. in'an unconscious condition, and," on the arrival of Dr., Henry, it was found .that the skull had bean fractured,; and an arm broken, as well ,as several ribs. The sufferer was conveyed to the hospital, and on'inquiry at -a late hour' last evening it was ascertained' that , his. condition. was' critical. ' Mr.-; Jolin Orr, many years road' overseer to. the Hawkc's Bay County Couitt, cil, died'suddenly while driving ; alone in a motor-car. in Hastings to-day. There was no accident, but when the car,.which was noticed to be going slowly, stopped by: running into the kerbing, Mr; Orr was found to be dead.. He was an old and highly respected resident of. David Robertson, who- was admitted to, Gisborne Hospital on July 13, as the, result o£ a fall while _ embarking on the >Tnrawera;'at Napier, the previous night, died- from internal injuries at the ; hospital.
