AGRICULTURAL INSTRUCTION.
- NO SPECIAL COLLEGES. The following reply has been given by the Minister for Education (the Hon. G, Fowliis) to a question asked by Mr. Anderson, It.p. f«! ilataata:— "1 see no reason why secondary schools, serving rural communities, should not arrange their curricula so as io provide suitable courses of agricultural instruction. Some schools in Mow Zealand of the typo mentioned arc known to bo moving already in this direction. As to the establishment of (.'piloses ior higher agricultural instruction, the character of the support given by the !ar;,r»:' community to iiio efforts niaJc by c.oiirolling authorities of technical elas-es to provide instruction in subjects related to a;:ricultural and pastoral pur suits—efforts which, I am sure, would continue to lie made if the "necessary interest and support were assured—doe* not lead (he Government to suppose that adequate support on the part of the farming community would be forthcoming if special colleges wore established as proposed."
