NELSON APPLES IN LONDON.
THE TRIAL SHIPMENT. Mr. John Bushby, the present owner of a Stoke property, now in England, when hero some time ago (says a Nelson paper) promised Mr. E. B. Izard" to inspect the Nelson shipment of apples, and report thereon. Mr. Bushby now writes as follows, under date. May 24: —"The Paparoa's shipment came Home at rather an awkward time, as the King's funeral was taking place last week. The Paparoa arrived on the Wednesday, and I had a vriro from the agent to say the apples would ho landed and sold on the Thursday. The apples were sold about four o'clock. Thero was too much hurry; but there wero a good many cooks mixed up in it —I mean to say Government officials. If it hud been left/to the brokers they would have kept them until this week. Tho applcn were landed out of tho cool chambers to really hot weather. Tlio consequence waa that moisture was precipitated on them, and when they were on show they were dripping wot. Had thoy been kept till this week that would haro all dried off. I think it made a difference of Is, a case, jiulning from how Tasmanians sold, for Nelson fruit was superior in appearance., nt any rate. Our packing was faulty, as the apples were shaky, ami some bruised; but tho buyers' opinion was that the fruit was all right. The prices ranged from, say, Cs. 9d. to Sβ. 9d., and one or two up to 10s. I havo tiro cases coming home to-morrow to give & good trial to."
