A terrible railway disaster, accompanied by much loss of life, has occurred at Dayton, Ohio. A passenger train collided with a freight train, tho engine of the latter crashing through a smoking car and a day coach filled with women and children.

Tho two cars were over-turned, and with their occupants rolled down an embankment.

Thirty-one bodies havo. already been recovered. Eighty-seven of survivors were injured, many of thorn being pinned beneath the wreckage.

The other cars in tho passenger train were derailed, but without any fatalities occurring.
