The loop lino constructed at Koputajo'a, where tho AVellingtnji-Xew Plymouth, cxpiress ca-mo to grief on Friday, has enabled the trains to get through much more promptly. It is expected that the -da -mage to the permanent way will be put by Monday. The cause of bhe accident Ims not been ascertained definitely, but it is surmised that the points were set for the loop line, and were not properly set back for the express to pass through, n.nd hence the derailment. The I'.ccide.nt, into which an official inquiry will be made, i,s the nearest approach to a serious mishap that has occurred on this section of tbe line. Had tho train been travelling at a fast pace, the consequences would have been disastrous, and serious loss of life must have ensued. ~ »
