Advice by yesterday's mail gives some particulars of the steel screw steamer Ngatoro, launched at Port Glasgow on May 5 by Messrs. A. Rodgor and Co., for tho Blackball Coal Company, New Zealand, The vessel, which has been built in excess of Lloyd's highest class, is of the following dimensions;— Length, 225 ft.; breadth, 33ft.; depth, loft. Bannatyne and Co. advise that the Wairau was fixed to leave Karamea at 8 p.m. yesterday with timber for Wellington.-' Tho Whangape left Westport last night for Sydney. The Te-Anau clears Westport to-day for Bluff. On completion of discharge at this port to-day, the Kaitangata, Waipori, and Pukaki are. all to be dispatched for Westnort, while tho Poherua and the Kini will leave for Greymouth. Mr. R. C. Bird joined the Taviuni as purser yeeterday in place of Mr. A. G. Familton, who transferred to the Hauroto. Mr/ M'Donald, second officer of tho Maori, is at present on holiday leave, and Mr. N. Campbell, late of the Whangape, is relieving nim. The work of salving the ship Falls of Halladale, at Curdie's Inlet (Vic.), is proceeding satisfactorily, and the auxiliary, ketch motor Geih, which has been busy, on the scene of the wreck at short intervals when the weather has permitted, during the past three months, arrived in Melbourne on Friday with 30 tons of the sunken vessel's cargo. A cablegram received by the Maoriland Steamship Company states that tho Ennerdale has left Port Stephons for Melbourne and Geelong. From tho latter port she goes to Edithburg to load salt for Titnaru and Lyttclton. The Holmdalo crossed Kaipara Bar for Wellington yesterday morning, and the Lauderdale got away from Jlokianga for Nydia Bay and Greymouth. To-day tho New Zealand Shipping Company's Waimate is to leave Lyttclton for Waitara, and after loading a uuantity of cargo there she comes to Wellington to fi)i up She it; dua licrt or. Monday next, and will sail a couple of duys later for London. On May 10. Messrs. Workman, Clark and Co., Belfast, launched the steamer St Albans for the Eastern and Australian Steamship Company. She is 381 ft. in length, about 1500 tons gross, and is to have accommodation for 63 first and ib BMtond-class passengers, in addition to steerage passengers. She has been built for trading between Australia and Chinese porta. ,
