PERSONAL NOTES FROM LONDON. London, May 12. Mr.' and Mrs. Moss Davis and their daughters have taken 31 Seymour Street, W., for tho season. Captain Vereker Bindon has arrived in England from New Zealand to superintend the construction of boats for the new Dominion Steamship Company. Mrs. and Miss Gore-Martin, of Wanganui and Auckland, have just • returned from a trip to tho Continent, and will remain in London for 'about a month, later visiting friends in Oxford, Cambridge, and Norfolk. Mr. A. L. Alexander, of Christchurch and Dunedin, who arrived in London by tho . Sucvic, intends visiting various industrial centres, in England nnd Scotland, and possibly Vienna, Berlin, and Paris, leaving for New Zealand about June 30. Mrs. Henry Feidwick, widow of tho late Hon. H. Feidwick, M.L.C., of Invereargill, arrived in London by" the Malwa, accompanicd by her daughters Edith; Mabel, and Cora. They will probably not reach New Zealand agaiu until early in 1012, intending to do a long round of travel first in Russia, Norway, Egypt, etc. Miss Florence Williams, Mus. Bac., and Miss Dslcie Williams, B.Sc., arrived in London by the .Moldavia, and will be hero for a fortnight before going to Edinburgh . for, probably, six months. Miss Florence will there continue her music studies, and Miss Dulcio will sit for her L.R.C.P. degreo at Edinburgh University. Lord Islington, Governor-General-designate of New Zealand, was entertained on Saturday week to a complimentary dinner by the tenants on his Hilmarton and Hartham estates at Chippenham. Replying to the toast of his health, he said lie hoped ill the future to tpke his share in, an active way in doing what was possible to strengthen those Imperial ties which he believed the people of New Zealand were equally desirous of strengthening. -•in interesting family gathering took place at the Holborn Restaurant recently in tho form of a welcome to England to Mr. A. Colenso Kessell, secretary to tho Premier of Western Australia, and Mr. Charles A. Kessell, of Auckland. Over forty relations of tho guests of tho evening were present to meet them, and a Eouvmiir of the occasion was- presented to Mrs*. A. C. Kessell. . A fcaturo of the menu was that all the fruit was grown in Western Australia and sent by tho Premier of W.A. Mr. C. A. Kessell leaves again for Auckland about October.
