HIBERNIAN SOCIETY.

The quarterly meeting of the St. Ta trick's branch, No. 95, of the Hibernian h'ocietv was held at St. Patrick's Hall, Boulcot-t Streot, Inst evening. Bro. J. W. Cailagban, 8.P., was in the chair. There was a large attendance of • members, and a considerable amount of routine business was disposed of. Four new members ,weio initiated, and four were proposed. There was keen competition for the offices of the society, several nominations being received for each oliice. It was decided to take paTt in the friendly societies' procession to welcome hi£ Excellency Lord Islington. The president, Bro. Gallaghan, gave a report of the working of the "United Friendly Societies' Dispensary. The report of the' St. Patrick's Day Celebration Committee was received and adopted. The report was satisfactory, and showed a credit balance of <£35, which sum is to be devoted for the future celebrations of St. Patrick's Day. In accordance with the resolution passed at the last triennial meeting, the branch nominating Bros. J. "W. Callaghan, B. Doherty, H. M'Xeowen, P. D. Hoskings, J. O'fyullivan, J. J. L. Burk-e, and E. "P. Retchcl for the office of District Deputy to represent the District Executive in Wellington,-these names are to be submitted to the half-yearly meeting of .the "Wellington branch to select three' names for submission to the branches in the Wellington district, with a view o( % choosing one. The one aggregating the highest number of votes from tho branches will be submitted to tlie District Executive at Auckland, who will make the necessary appointment. Votes of condolence were passed in connection with tho deaths of two members, which occurred last , week—viz., Bros. John M'Loughlin and John Conroy, both very old members. The Chaplain (the Rev. Father Venning, S.M.), addressed tho meeting and promised to give a paper at the half-yearly meeting. The receipts of the meeting totalled <£80.
